I've always loved art. Galleries, exhibitions, festivals, always. But for years I'd stand in front of a painting and feel something real. I just couldn't put it into words.

One guided visit to the Picasso museum in Barcelona changed that. The guide explained cubism simply: what it is, how it works, what to look for. After that, walking into any Picasso exhibition felt completely different. I could actually see what he was doing.

That's what this week is. You leave able to stand in front of a painting and describe what you see: the technique, the intention, why it makes you feel what it makes you feel.

What to Expect

Eight days in the South of France, and you'll never look at a painting the same way again. Mornings in museums, guided conversations that change how you see. Afternoons are yours: Nice's old town, the coast, the light.

The Artists

Three painters who each changed how art works. Matisse stripped everything back so colour could do the work alone. Picasso broke perspective apart and rebuilt it from multiple angles at once. Chagall's images don't follow logic; they follow feeling. One week, three ways of seeing.

❋ The Group

Women-only, eight guests maximum. Small enough that you'll actually get to know everyone, large enough that you're not stuck with the same two people. Real conversations, and connections that last well beyond the trip.

❋ The Experience

Eight days split between three painters and two cities. Each museum visit is a conversation. Every session changes how you look at the next one. By day six, you're walking through Nice applying what you've learned. By day seven, you can stand in front of a painting and describe what you see.

❋ What You Leave With

A way of looking at art that doesn't leave when the week ends. Any museum, gallery, anywhere. You can describe what you're seeing and feeling.

Day by Day

  • Arrive in Nice and transfer to the hotel. Settle in, take in where you are. Welcome dinner in the evening. Good food, good company. The week starts tomorrow.

  • Morning at the Musée Matisse. You start to see how much is deliberately removed, less detail, stronger impact, and how colour alone carries the emotion. Afterwards, Cours Saleya market: the same eye, a different setting. You practice looking at colour in the everyday, what draws you in, what recedes, what changes depending on what's next to it. Afternoon and evening off.

  • Morning in Antibes at the Musée Picasso. Faces don't follow one angle, they combine several. By the end of the session, you understand how that works, and why. A short practical exercise out in Antibes, then the afternoon is yours to explore the town. Evening off.

  • No plans. Rest, explore, or do nothing at all. The week holds space for this.

  • Morning at the Musée Marc Chagall. What you see isn't literal, it's symbolic, emotional. You learn to read it rather than decode it. Afternoon at the Museum of Asian Arts: a different visual language entirely, how other cultures represent space, meaning, and emotion without the conventions you've spent the week learning.

  • You move through the city and the coastline. The same places, but you're looking differently now. What would Matisse simplify, what would Picasso distort, what would Chagall turn into a story? It starts to come together. Afternoon off.

  • You return to a few artworks that stayed with you. In small groups, you walk through them together, not a presentation, just explaining what you see. By now, it feels natural. Farewell dinner in the evening.

  • A slow morning. Farewell breakfast. Departures. Breakfast and departure. You leave knowing how to look at a painting, not just see it. Airport drop-off.
